Rabbi Asher Anschel Yungreis of Tschenger, Hungary, was one of the revered righteous figures of the Hungarian Jewish world before the Holocaust. He belonged to the distinguished Yungreis rabbinic dynasty, a family known for its deep devotion to Torah, holiness, and unwavering service of Hashem.
Within his community, he was not only a rabbi and leader — but a true spiritual father. Thousands turned to him in moments of joy and sorrow, seeking his blessing, his counsel, and his heartfelt prayers. People from all walks of life found comfort in his presence, feeling uplifted by his purity, humility, and extraordinary sense of compassion.
His beloved Rebbetzin stood faithfully by his side. Known for her modesty, kindness, and quiet strength, she helped build a home that radiated sanctity and warmth. Together, they created an environment of holiness that left a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know them.
Today, their resting place in Hungary has become a sacred site of remembrance and prayer. Visitors from near and far continue to come, standing in reverence at their kever, pouring out their hearts in tefillah, and drawing inspiration from their holy legacy.
